EVERYTHING AT A GLANCE

How to Use Plus

The MARCHON Endurance gels can be used during training, races and competitions.

Non-caffeine

Pre- training: Consume 1 gel 20-30 minutes before exercise.

During: Consume 1-3 gels per hour of intense exercise, depending on your duration and intensity.

Caffeine

Pre- training: Consume 1 gel 20-30 minutes before exercise.

During: This depends on the length of the training session or race. It is advised to not use more than one of the caffeine gels per hour of exercise. Consume a maximum of 4 gels per day.

How long until I see benefits?

You will feel the effect of these gels right away. Carbohydrates and caffeine work immediately to help fuel your training sessions and races.

Common mistakes people make

There are 3 main mistakes people make when using carbohydrate gels

  • Not slowly increasing their intake. Don’t start taking 3 per hour if you have never used any before. Work up to a higher intake during your training to reach a suitable fuelling strategy.

  • Only using during races. You need to train your gut as hard as you train everything else. Make sure to use carb gels during your training sessions to improve your ability to digest them. More information on this here.

  • Using gels too late (waiting until fatigue hits). Gels work preventively, not reactively. Waiting until you’re tired means you’re already behind on fueling. Have a clear strategy and commit to this. Be aware of what works and refine it each time.
Benefits Plus

Carbohydrates

Numerous studies have proven that carbohydrates improve exercise and endurance performance (10, 11, 12, 13, 14).

Pomegranate extract

  • Enhances endurance and time to exhaustion. Supplementation with pomegranate extract significantly increases total time to exhaustion and the time to reach ventilatory threshold during endurance exercise, indicating improved aerobic capacity and stamina 1, 3.
  • Improves blood flow and oxygen delivery. Pomegranate extract increases blood flow and vessel diameter after high-intensity exercise, which may enhance delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscles, supporting better performance and faster recovery 5.
  • Delays muscle fatigue. Studies show delayed onset of muscle fatigue and improved performance in repeated high-intensity sprints or endurance activities with PE supplementation 3, 5.
  • Accelerates post-exercise recovery. Pomegranate helps restore baseline markers of muscle damage and inflammation (such as CK and CRP) after strenuous exercise, supporting faster muscle recovery 1, 3, 4.
  • Improves strength performance. Research demonstrates improvements in maximal load lifted, total workload, and isometric strength following pomegranate supplementation, especially in resistance-trained individuals 3.
  • Provides potent antioxidant and anti-Inflammatory effects. Rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, pomegranate extract reduces exercise-induced oxidative stress and inflammation, both of which are linked to enhanced recovery and reduced fatigue 3, 4.

Overall pomegranate extract has the potential to enhance exercise performance and to expedite recovery from intensive exercise.

Caffeine

  • It increases the time to exhaustion during endurance exercise, allowing you to perform longer before fatigue sets in 6, 8.
  • Reduces perceived effort and discomfort, making exercise feel easier and more sustainable 7, 9.
  • Enhances fat utilisation as a fuel source, which helps spare muscle glycogen and prolongs endurance capacity 7, 8.
  • Boosts alertness, mood, and cognitive function, supporting better focus during prolonged activity 9.
FAQs Plus

Are MARCHON Endurance gels thick and gloopy like some other gels?

Not at all. We worked hard to find the right balance of viscosity. They flow easily with minimal mess and stickiness. No need to chase with water either.

What is the 2:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio, and why does it matter?

The 2:1 ratio helps maximise carbohydrate absorption by using two different transport pathways in the gut. This allows you to absorb more energy per hour (up to 90–120g carbs) compared to glucose alone, delaying fatigue and reducing stomach issues.

When should I use the endurance gel during exercise?

Take one gel 15 minutes before your session and then every 20–40 minutes during endurance activities. Regular intake helps maintain stable blood sugar and consistent energy output.

What’s the benefit of the caffeinated version with pomegranate extract?

Caffeine boosts mental focus and reduces perceived effort, helping you push harder. Pomegranate extract adds natural antioxidants that may reduce exercise-induced oxidative stress and improve blood flow.

How much caffeine is in the caffeinated gel?

Each caffeinated gel contains 100 mg of caffeine — roughly the same as a small cup of coffee. This dose supports performance without causing jitters for most athletes.

Why choose a non-caffeinated version?

The unflavoured version offers clean, sustained energy without stimulants, ideal for evening sessions, sensitive individuals, or ultra-endurance races where caffeine cycling matters.

What kind of carbohydrates are used in the gel?

We use a high-quality maltodextrin and fructose for fast, efficient energy. In both gels we have kept the ingredients to a minimum.

How is this gel different from typical supermarket brands?

Many supermarket gels use only glucose or cheap syrups, leading to slower absorption and more stomach distress. Our clean formula uses the optimal 2:1 ratio with simple, research-backed ingredients.

Is this gel easy on the stomach?

Yes. The 2:1 glucose-to-fructose blend reduces the risk of gastrointestinal issues common with single-sugar gels. Minimal, natural ingredients also minimise bloating and discomfort. Liam Holmes has covered the different ratios in this post here.

Is pomegranate extract just for flavour, or does it have benefits?

Beyond flavour, pomegranate extract contains polyphenols shown to improve blood flow, power output and muscle recovery, giving you a subtle performance edge.

Can I use both versions (caffeinated and natural) during a race?

Absolutely. Many athletes alternate between natural and caffeinated gels depending on the race stage — saving caffeine for the later miles when focus and extra drive are needed.
